I became a therapist because I believe that everyone makes sense in the context of their own story. That is the lens I bring to every person I sit with. The things you have done, the way you love, the patterns you cannot seem to break… they all make sense when we understand where you have been.
21 years in the United States Air Force gave me something I could not have learned any other way. I worked alongside people from every background, belief system, and walk of life. That kind of experience changes how you see people. I brought that with me into this work. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am trained to understand that we are all shaped by the systems around us... our families, histories, cultures, and the worlds we grew up in. That is what I carry into every session.
I care deeply about the people I work with, and part of that means being real with them. If something important is happening in the room, I am going to name it. And when something lands as a little ironic or a little funny, that gets space too. Therapy does not have to be heavy every minute. Sometimes the most honest thing in the room is a laugh.
Book a Free ConsultationI chose Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) because it gets to what's real. I'm not going to hand you communication scripts or teach you to manage each other better. We're going to find out what's actually happening underneath it all.
Here is how that works.
1. Understand the cycle
We find the pattern you keep getting stuck in. Not to assign blame, but to see what's actually driving it.
2. Slow down
In session we slow down enough to hear what the argument is actually about. Underneath every conflict is a feeling that is not getting through. We find it.
3. Say what's really there
You practice putting words to what's actually happening inside you. Not the argument, but the feeling underneath it. In session, in real time.
4. Feel the difference
One day you notice it. Something was different. For the first time in a long time, it felt effortless again. That's not luck. That's what this work does.
My sessions are purposeful. I believe in real movement. The kind you feel when you walk out.
